Faux Kalamkari Workshop with Arthi.V.Lal

Faux Kalamkari Workshop with Arthi.V.Lal

Kalamkari is a type of hand-painted or block-printed cotton textile, produced in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Kalamkari is known to be a healing fabric as the colors, motifs and the narration of magical forms create an aura that heals an individual physically and spiritually. Only natural dyes are used in Kalamkari.

To make this art form popular across the world, The Circle Community conducted an interactive Faux Kalamkari Workshop with expert artist Arthi V Lal.

About The Artist

Arthi is an artist by passion and an entrepreneur by profession. She makes customized gifts and decor props for various occasions such as weddings, birthdays, surprises, etc.

The Workshop Began

The workshop began with a brief introduction of Arthi and her eventful journey as an artist. Arthi thanked the hosts and welcomed all the participants to the workshop. She gave an insight into the traditional art of Kalamkari and explained its significance. She then began creating artwork right from scratch.

Arthi encouraged the participants to co-create the Kalamkari artwork with her and gave some valuable tips and lessons to them. She also cleared their doubts from time and time while creating the artwork.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

Arthi made a beautiful Kalamkari artwork of leaves, flowers, and a peacock. She painted the peacock with cobalt blue color and its wings with red and mustard color. The peacock looked colorful and attractive. All the participants showed their Kalamkari artworks to Arthi. The host thanked Arthi for teaching the art form.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. They also belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. The Circle Community, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

On this note, here’s us signing off until next time!
