About the Artist
Artist Bharat Tripathi belongs to the 1988 batch of Indian Revenue Service. He was born in Bihar in 1964 and brought up in the city of Pune. He is a double graduate and has also completed his Masters in International Taxation from Harvard Law School and Management from Harvard University. He is currently based in Mumbai. His solo shows include ‘Navdurga’ in February 2009 at Hacienda Art Gallery, Mumbai, ‘Dashavatar’ in November 2011 at Museum Art Gallery, Mumbai, ‘The Story of Shiva’ held in December 2012 at Coomaraswamy Hall, CSMVS, Mumbai, ‘The Tirthankars’ held in February 2014 at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai and ‘Ramayana’ held in November 2015 at Lalit Kala Akademy, New Delhi and ‘Anjaneya’ at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. Besides these, he has participated in various group shows and national and international art camps. He was one of the participants of a travelling exhibition across 18 major cities of India of which Lalit Kala Academy, Delhi was one venue. His works are created in the figurative abstract style and are highly conceptual drawing upon themes from the Indian mythology. His works are a reflection of his spirituality and themes of his artworks are a result of his inner thought process. He is also inspired by S. H. Raza who initiated him into the world of art. He is currently being mentored by one of the leading Contemporary artists of India, Anjolie Ela Menon. One of his artworks has featured in the Coffee Table Book on Art released by the Hon’ble President of India in July 2011.
