Tribal Art
Bhil Cultural Traditions I by Yashpal Baranda
Yashpal Baranda’s Bhil Cultural Traditions I reads like a page from a village record. The canvas is divided into compartments, and each one holds its own scene from Bhil life, so the painting works as a set of small stories told side by side. Warm reds and earthy oranges run through the panels. The dots that mark Bhil painting fill both the figures and the grounds, giving the whole surface a fine, even texture. Because each panel stands on its own, the eye can rest on one scene before moving to the next, much like reading. The numeral in the title marks this as the first work in a series on Bhil customs. Why does this painting stand out? • Hand-painted by Bhil artist Yashpal Baranda in acrylic on canvas. • The panel layout packs many scenes of Bhil life into one painting, which rewards slow, close viewing. • At 27.5 x 24 inches, it fits living rooms, reading corners and gallery walls. • A thoughtful gift for anyone interested in tribal customs and storytelling through art. Bring home the first chapter of this series today.
