Pattachitra Course

Bijaya Parida is a master of the Pattachitra painting style and was born and raised in Puri. He spent his childhood witnessing the glorious Pattachitra paintings that adorned the inner shrine of the temple Jagannath. Today, Parida is one of the eminent masters of the Pattachitra art form from Orissa. Rooftop’s Pattachitra art course also has another well-known Odisha Pattachitra artist, Rabindra Behera. At the young age of 11, supported by his family and armed with a few basic art supplies, he started learning Pattachitra etching in Raghurajpur village, in the district of Puri, Odisha, under the instruction of Jagannath Mahapatra, a renowned Pattachitra artist. Since 1983, Rabindra Behera has engraved Pattachitras and palm leaves. In 2003, he won a State Award, and in 2007, he was given a National Merit Award. A chance to learn the art from these master artists is definitely not something an art lover would want to miss out on.
