G20 Summit Experiences the Art Heritage of India

As rightly quoted by Amitabh Kant, the G20 Sherpa of India, “Rajasthan is known for warm hospitality and historical splendour. It’s a symbolic beginning for G20 to demonstrate the tradition of “Atithi Devo Bhava”. And rightly so, the attendees were in for a memorable glimpse of India. The G20 Summit experienced the art heritage of India, exhibited through various art forms originating from different pockets of the country.

Undoubtedly, the innumerable tribal communities, distinct lifestyles and unique culture speak volumes about the diversity of India. To add on, the country’s traditional art continues to carry the narrative ahead for centuries. Not merely art pieces, Indian artworks hold religious, sentimental and socio-political significance. Hence, exhibiting the various Indian traditional paintings at the Summit, served the purpose of giving the delegates a unique “Indian experience’.

Indian art finds a stage at G20 Summit

Gond, Bhil, and Pithora were among some of the folk art forms exhibited during the Summit. These art forms originated from other rich states like Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and so on. The delegates and officials also marvelled at the delicate art done on water, Jal Sanjhi. Altogether, the Summit provided a stage for Indian traditional art forms and garnered applause and appreciation.
