Bhanu Bhai Chunnilal Chitara

About Involved in the art of Mata ni Pachedi since he was 15 years old, Bhanubhai Chunnilal Chitara is a seventh-generation Kalamkari artist from the Chunara community. A native of Viramgam, Bhanubhai learned the art from his parents and has carried the legacy to the 10th generation of his family, who is also involved in practicing this art form.

Now 67, Bhanubhai continues to practice his art and is associated with a handicraft institute. According to his family, Mata ni Pachedi is an endangered art form and it is crucial to preserve it. They believe that Bhanubhai receiving the Padma Shri has reignited their hope that the art of Mata ni Pachedi will endure and thrive.
