Wire Work Jewellery Workshop By Ritvi Mishra

Wire work

Jewellery is an important fashion accessory which enhances the overall look of a person. While there are many types of jewellery, wire wrapping is one of the oldest techniques of making handmade jewellery. This art form is made out of wires and similar products which are shaped and designed to make a beautiful piece. The components of wire are connected to each other using mechanical technique where no soldering or heating of wire is carried out. To give our Circle Members the experience to learn and enlighten themselves about this traditional art form, Rajasthan Studio curated a special Wire Work Jewellery Workshop and invited Ritvi Mishra.

Ritvi is from Pune, and is a third-year electronics and telecommunications student known for being a maker aficionado. Is passionate about building communities and can’t imagine life without art.

Wire Work Jewellery Workshop Began

Ritvi starts the workshop with informing everyone about how they will be working with the wire. Later she explains what sort of wire is of use. She takes a look at everyones wire & elaborates about the wire used for making these jewellery. Then she started by cutting the wire in equal parts and tying it around the bangles in a very explanatory fashion. She told the attendees how they could go with it and the alternatives they could use to make the art work.

She showed how they could make use of different beads to make the art pisces look more colourful and pretty at the same time. After she finished with the bangle wire design she turned towards making a pair of earrings from wire. She cut the wire and in a very simple way showed how they can turn the wire easily and get a beautiful pair of earrings by simply just twisting the wires. Later, she showed how they could make it from a tool or by simply using their hands without use of any other tool. She made some two different pairs of earrings. She even showed her favourite bead pattern in wire.
