Rooftop – Where India Inspires Creativity

Watercolor Painting Workshop With Gargi Poonia

Watercolor Painting Workshop

Watercolor Painting Workshop: Watercolour painting is a method in which the paints are made of pigments that are suspended in a water-based solution. It is a painting technique that allows the artist to explore layering with colours. To simplify the watercolour painting, Rooftop curated a Watercolor Painting Workshop and invited Gargi Poonia. She is pursuing agricultural honours and has had a knack for art since her childhood. She likes making recycling as well as best of waste art pieces. Gargi developed a very steady hand at watercolour paintings and also loves to explore other mediums as well.

The Watercolor Painting Workshop Began

Gargi began the experience by explaining various types of watercolours and brushes available, while all the 30 attendees paid keen attention and made notes. Moving forward, Gargi demonstrated to make a festive lantern watercolour painting on a paper. She taped the paper on a flat surface for a crisp outlined border and began to draw the outline of the lantern using a pencil. All the attendees followed these steps and worked along with her.

Then, Gargi demonstrated how to add the first layer of watercolours. Slowly steadily by using the tapping technique she created multiple layers of blues and greens completing the lantern. Adding some very creative abstract detail using fine liner pens she highlighted the lanterns. Gargi shared some very useful hacks to correct any mistakes while painting. She painted the background using bright yellow and added some highlights and shadows making the painting look realistic.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

By the end of the workshop, the attendees successfully learnt a new approach to watercolour paintings in a limited time frame. Some of the attendees had completed their own festive lantern paintings and showcased them over the camera. Gargi loved all the paintings and appreciated each attendee’s unique painting. It was an amusing experience for all.

The attendees were from different parts of the country and belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on one platform.

Rooftop as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

Here is us signing off until next time!
