Rooftop – Where India Inspires Creativity

Vegetable Gardening Workshop with Seema Gupta

Vegatable gardening

Organic Vegetable gardening at home is becoming popular due to inflation and food adulteration. India is an agrarian country but agriculture is perishing due to the growth of the secondary and tertiary sectors. On the other hand, the population is rising so it will be inevitable in the future to have your own kitchen garden. Art requires minimal investment but sound technical knowledge.

To spread awareness about this distinct art form, The Circle Community conducted an informative and engaging Vegetable Gardening Workshop with expert artist Seema Gupta.

About The Artist

Seema has an experience of 16 years in the field of art. She is an active kitchen gardening member in Jaipur and Delhi. Her passion is her business now.

And The Workshop Began

The workshop began with a brief introduction of Seema and her journey as an expert in vegetable gardening. Seema then greeted and expressed her heartfelt gratitude towards the attendees and hosts of the session. She further gave an insight into the art form and its significance, and then started creating the artwork and demonstrating the process. She explained how vegetable gardening differs from ornamental gardening. Plastic bags are useful for vegetable gardening too but plastic pots are most suitable for the green leafy vegetables like spinach, coriander and fenugreek. A pot size of 11-14 inches with good width always provides better results as aeration and space for roots is more. Take 1:1 vermicompost and garden soil and 20% coco peat or riversand with neem khani for vegetable gardening. She explained the effect of sunlight and weather on plants. She also provided distinct tips for root plants like onion and ginger. Further, she dabbed some seeds of fenugreek in soil and explained the entire process.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

As the workshop progressed towards completion, the attendees were happy and delighted as all their queries were addressed. The workshop concluded on an appreciative note by the attendees for both Seema and Rooftop.

The attendees were from different parts of the country and belonged to various age groups but their love and passion for art brought them together on one platform. Rooftop, as always, was able to curate an amazing experience and memories that can be cherished for a long time.

On this note, here’s us signing off until next time!
