Rooftop – Where India Inspires Creativity

The Red Rune Sky Watercolor Workshop With Shalini Karanpuria

The Red Rune Sky Watercolor Workshop

The Red Rune Sky Watercolor Workshop: On the fourth day of Navratri, Rooftop curated The Red Rune Sky Watercolor Workshop. The colour theme was red, which symbolizes passion and auspiciousness. To curate this experience, Rajasthan Studio invited Shalini Karanpuria, who is an artist by heart and works in the finance sector. Ever since her childhood, she has been passionate about painting and sketching and finds solace in doing watercolour paintings.

The Red Rune Sky Watercolor Workshop Began

Shalini began her workshop by drawing a circle of a 10-centimetre radius, which was her drawing space for the rest of the workshop. All 35 participants dressed in red were ready to celebrate Navratri with Rajasthan Studio virtually. In a big circle of 10 centimetres, Shalini drew another small circle which represented the moon. She painted the rest of the sky by mixing two shades of red to give it a natural look. She also explained the mixing of two watercolours on a sheet directly. After painting the sky red, she then added a yellow colour to the moon. For beginners, Shalini suggested using mask tape in order to avoid the spreading of colour outside the desired area.

After painting the sky and moon, Shalini added more detail to the painting making it look more lively. She demonstrated how to give a natural cloudy effect on the red sky. She also explained two different techniques to draw the trees, one using a flat brush, and the other with a round brush.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

By the end of the workshop, all participants painted along with Shalini and each of them created their masterpiece. Pleased with the seminar, they flashed their red rune sky watercolour painting on their screens. Rooftop as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

On this note, here’s us signing off until next time!
