Soap making is basically the art of making soaps. In this current pandemic scenario, one needs soaps more than clothes! To give our members the experience to learn and enlighten themselves about this traditional art form, Rooftop curated a special workshop and invited Rucha Gadgil.
Soap Making is truly one of the best things that have happened to her. Her brand TheSoapHub is an organic homemade brand with herbal, skin friendly, colorful, therapeutic, gifting, ornamental, personalized soaps. Being a Textile Designing student from NIFT Mumbai, helped her in color combinations and designing innovative soaps. Also, she has always been an explorer in terms of everything she does, and has always been super excited to indulge in new ventures!
She used to take Soap Making Classes before lockdown for 2 years and has been selling soaps too. She has conducted 80+ plus workshops during this lockdown. Along with soaps, she also takes Workshops on Body Wash Making, Bath Bombs, Bath salts, Bath scrubs, Sugar scrub bars, Foaming hand sanitizer. She takes day workshops, Full course, Certified courses, Personalized Workshop (individual).
Soap Making Workshop Began
Workshop started with a brief introduction of Rucha. She told all the attendees about the types of base available in the market and how it can be used. She also told the attendees about the essential oils available in the market. Explaining the basic process of soap making, she started showing the materials required to make the soap. It was suggested by her that according to one’s skin type and preference, different fragrance oils and additives can be used. She started by melting the soap base and then proceeded by adding soap color and fragrance oil. She also mentioned that try to avoid aluminum mould or plastic mould as you will have to apply some rubbing alcohol or coconut oil.
Towards The End Of The Workshop
At the end of the workshop, the attendees learnt the entire process of making soaps and Rucha ended up making three different types of soaps. The participants gained a lot of insight about soup, its types and the process of making it. She encouraged them to experiment with making soaps using different colours and fragrances.
The attendees were from different parts of the country. Also, they belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. Rooftop as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
