Reverse Decoupage On Glass Plate Workshop with Ishita Nagda

Reverse Decoupage

Decoupage art form is the art of gluing colours with ready-made design cut-outs and shimmering decorative elements. Small wooden boxes, furniture surfaces, glass bottles and glasswares are majorly decorated with decoupage art. The art is gaining popularity as it gives 3-D effects.

To explore this art form, The Circle Community conducted a Reverse Decoupage on Glass Plate Workshop with Ishita Nagda.

About The Artist

Ishita Nagda is a CA by profession. She is an experienced professional in accounting and finance who returned to square one to pursue her passion, art. She is a certified career analyst and fevicryl instructor. Her favourite colouring medium is fabric paints.

The Workshop Began

In this workshop, Ishita firstly explained the difference between decoupage and reverse decoupage. She showed the attendees her other decoupage and reverse decoupage work. She worked on making outlines for the design given on the decoupage paper. She had carefully cut the motif of the design and placed it on the glass surface by tracing an outline on the surface. She started making designs pertaining to the first layer with chalk paint.

After completing, Ishita started applying glue on the glass surface and pasted the design cut onto it. A sheet of plastic was placed on it and dabbed with a sponge. The remaining detailed design elements were completed using chalk paints. The entire surface was painted light blue while the background of the main design was white.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

To help participants learn more about various techniques, Ishita demonstrated the technique of painting on the glass bottles. She shared a tip to apply Mod Podge and thereafter varnish. The attendees loved the process of learning and creating the artwork with Ishita.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. They also belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. The Circle Community, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
