Rooftop – Where India Inspires Creativity

Oil Pastel Painting Workshop With Himanshi Panwar

Oil Pastel Painting Workshop

Oil Pastel Painting Workshop: Oil pastel is a painting and drawing medium with characteristics similar to pastels and wax crayons. Rooftop curated an Oil Pastel Painting Workshop with Himanshi Panwar who is from Jodhpur. Being fond of drawing since childhood, she trained herself in sketching in 2017 and further sharpened her skills. She has tried several art forms and including soft pastels.

The Oil Pastel Painting Workshop Began

Himanshi began the workshop by drawing a basic outline of candles which was the motif for the day. Then Himanshi started shading very lightly with the pastels. Next, she showed a blending technique to all 20 attendees who followed her very carefully. She repeated the same technique of first shading with pastel and then blending with the fingers throughout the painting.

The attendees came up with several queries regarding the kind of pastel most suitable and the kind of paper mostly used for oil pastel painting. Himanshi patiently answered the questions. Gradually the gradient effect created by the blending the pastels became evident and the painting looked very lively. The attendees followed her and worked with her alongside.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

At the end of the workshop, all the participants successfully painted beautiful candles using pastels which looked almost exactly the same as Himanshi had drawn. The attendees successfully learnt a new form of painting.

All the attendees were from different parts of the country and belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform.

Rooftop as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

On this note, here’s us signing off until next time!
