Rooftop – Where India Inspires Creativity

Mandalas With Colour Splashes Workshop With Kritika Goel

Mandala With Colour Splash

Mother Nature holds a lot of secrets and one of the most adorable secrets of nature and the universe is the idea of connectivity. Both ancient people and today’s philosophers strongly believe in the idea of connectivity. In the ancient practices of Hinduism and Buddhism, we can see the emphasis laid on the idea of connectivity. Although they had a different way to present it, they used Mandala art as the perfect pictorial representation of their idea. Thus, Mandala means circle and represents the interconnectivity of the universe’s components. As deep as the idea behind Mandala with colour splashes is, creating Mandala art itself is a relaxing and soothing process that calms one’s mind and transcends it into a meditative state.

Mandala art can be performed in many ways and techniques, one of them being the wonderful technique of colour splashing that makes it even more beautiful. In order to introduce you to the mystical powers of Mandala with colour splashes, Rooftop curated an amazing session with expert artist Kritika Goel.

About The Artist

Kritika Goel is an alumnus of one of the prestigious institutions in India, The Pearl Academy. She has also been a part of Hansraj College, Delhi University. She is a Graphic Designer by profession and a self-taught Mandala artist by passion. She loves doing art as it relaxes her mind and soul and helps to discover her imagination and curiosity. In order to showcase her skills as a Mandala artist, she started her own Instagram page named ‘The Curious Minds’ where one can see her diverse skills and encounter some wonderful artworks.

The Workshop Began

The workshop began with a brief introduction of Kritika and her journey as an artist. Kritika greeted and expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the attendees. She then started the session with a brief insight into the significance and practice of Mandala art. Next, she started creating and demonstrating the process and specified some important points like the choice of colours and selection of papers. Kritika was working on a butterfly Mandala art piece, so she emphasized the techniques and importance of exact measurements. The session was very engaging and intriguing as Kritka encouraged the attendees to voice their queries whenever they faced them. As time passed, Kritika’s art piece started evolving into a beautiful wonder. This motivated the attendees to get more engrossed in the process of co-creating with her.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

As the workshop progressed towards completion, the attendees were able to create their own artwork. They showcased it to Kritika for her feedback. She found each of them very beautiful and full of effort. In the end, Kritika showcased some of her previous artworks which were very beautiful and mesmerizing. Each with elements of intricacy and depth. The workshop concluded with the attendees thanking Kritika for teaching and demonstrating the amazing process of creating a Mandala with colour splashes piece.

The attendees were not just from India but from different parts of the world. They also belonged to various age groups, but their love for art brought them together on a single platform.
