Mandala Workshop With Madhumita Ghosh

Mandala Workshop

Mandala Workshop: A mandala is a geometric combination of symbols. Mandalas can be employed for focusing the attention of practitioners and adepts, as a spiritual guidance tool, for establishing a sacred space and as an aid to meditation. To experience this therapeutic art-form, Rajasthan Studio curated a Mandala Workshop and invited Madhumita Ghosh, who is an artist by passion. She had been keen on art since her childhood and to keep up the art spirit she has been practising the very simple yet interesting and beautiful art form called Mandala. Mandala is not just an art to practice or a hobby, it’s a stress buster and the process of doing mandala gives her mental peace.

The Mandala Workshop Began

Madhumita began the experience by explaining all the basic materials and the types of pens that can be used. She mentioned a few pens for the art and a pen for correction by the brand Sakura. All the 20 attendees carefully heard the tips and made notes. Madhumita began to demonstrate basic mandala patterns on a  blank sheet of paper. She demonstrated geometric shapes, half curves, linear motifs etc. to the attendees.

Once everyone was familiar with the style of motifs, Madhumita began to draw a circular mandala. She demonstrated how to make the circle and form the grid over the circle. Within the circle, she drew concentric circles and using a protractor she marked a 10-degree angle and formed the grid. It made the mandala drawing easy and uniform. Madhumita filled each circle with varied mandala patterns. She showed the attendees a variety of patterns that they could use for their own mandala drawings.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

At the end of the experience, Madhumita showed some of her detailed mandala pieces to the attendees. All the attendees had managed to complete half of their paintings. They showcased their paintings over the camera, while Madhumita suggested some tweaks to enhance the art.  She was overjoyed to see all the attendees complete at least half the mandala. The overall experience was fun.

All the attendees were from different parts of the country and belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform.

Rajasthan studio as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

On this note, here’s us signing off until next time.
