A mandala, which is Sanskrit for “circle” is a geometric design that holds a great deal of symbolism in Hindu and Buddhist cultures. To give our Circle Members the experience to learn and enlighten themselves about this traditional art form, Rajasthan Studio curated a special workshop and invited Sanya Bountra.

Sanya is a self-taught artist. She is currently pursuing her under graduation. Art is a very important element in her life, she’s been practising art since early childhood. Drawing Mandalas is therapeutic to her and her major source of inspiration is her surroundings and Pinterest.

Mandala Art Workshop Began

The workshop began with a brief introduction to the artist. Sanya instructed the attendees to divide the page in half, and measure the sides and marked a point in the middle and draw lines vertically as well as horizontally. Then She made a circle for drawing the Mandala. Sanya made the attendees practice some basic patterns before starting drawing mandalas.

Sanya gave a walk through to the attendees on how to draw different patterns to complete a circular layer, the first step being, drawing a leaf motif then draw an outline inside it and then draw a line towards the bottom and then coloring it.

Towards the end of the Workshop

The workshop was very informative and fun, all the attendees were able to follow the instruction given by Sanya, she also welcomed all the queries asked by the attendees. And she also taught how to add a little more details to the mandalas. The workshop ended with everyone showcasing their beautiful artworks.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. Also, they belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. Rajasthan studio as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

On this note, we take your leave. See you next time!
