The mandala is an ancient traditional art form that symbolizes the interlinking of the universes. It originated in ancient India and finds its mention in Hindu and Buddhist spiritual texts. Mandala literally means a circle in Sanskrit, revolving around which are other circles all interlinked to each other. Besides its cosmological and philosophical significances, Mandala art is a very relaxing and calming art that when performed, reduces stress and transcends the artist’s mind into a meditative state. 

We organized an amazing session for our family on the basics of Mandala art and invited expert artist Priyanka Singh to facilitate the session.

About The Artist  

Priyanka Singh is an ardent art enthusiast who loves to create amazing artworks which comprise deeper meaning and beauty at the very core of them. She is a self-taught artist, residing in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She strongly believes in the magic of art and its therapeutic features. For her, Mandala’s art is something that draws her closer to the truth of life and brings joy and happiness to her at the same time. She loves to share her experiences with fellow art enthusiasts through workshops.

The Workshop Began

The workshop began with a brief introduction to Priyanka and her experiences as a self-taught artist, Priyanka then greeted everyone and expressed her heartfelt gratitude towards the attendees. Before commencing the workshop, She gave an insight into the significance of the Mandala art form including its advantages as an efficient stress buster. Further on, She described the structure of the Mandala art form and started demonstrating the process all from scratch. Priyanka explained each and every step in a detailed manner, initiating with elaborating different patterns combined to make a Mandala artwork. The attendees were very engrossed throughout the workshop and were co-creating with her.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

As the workshop progressed towards completion, the attendees were able to create their artworks which they presented to Priyanka for her feedback, who found each of them very beautiful and full of effort. In the end, Priyanka displayed some of her previous Mandala artworks which were completely mesmerizing and strikingly beautiful. The workshop concluded with the attendees thanking Priyanka for teaching the whole art form in such a fun and easy manner.

The attendees were from different parts of the country and belonged to various age groups, But their love for art brought them together on a single platform, Rooftop as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a positive and magical vibe altogether.
