Madhubani Workshop with Kavita Das

Madhubani Painting

Madhubani painting, also referred to as Mithila Art is a style of Indian painting, practiced in the Mithila region of the Indian subcontinent. It is characterised by its eye-catching geometrical patterns. To give our Circle Members the experience to learn and enlighten themselves about this traditional art form, Rajasthan Studio curated a special workshop and invited Kavita Das.

Kavita Das is a fashion graduate from NiFT New Delhi. She works in Retail and is associated with Visual merchandising. She is a Madhubani and Mandala artist.

Kavita began her art journey with Mithila Paintings. She has always been fascinated with its variations and its versatility. Her ancestors are practitioners of this art form. Therefore she learned this traditional art from her family members. Gradually, she also tried different art forms like Mandala, landscapes using watercolours etc. Now she’s trying to create a fusion out of them.

Madhubani Workshop Began

Kavita started the workshop with an introduction to Madhubani art form. Moving on, she gave some insights into the historical and cultural background of the art form. Along with that, she also explained different kinds of Madhubani paintings. She showcased the artwork that they were going to do that day.

Further, she showed the pens she uses for the paintings and showcased how to draw the lines for the artwork. Additionally, she also explained how to go about drawing the borders and the regional words used by the artist. She even mentions the rules that the attendees should follow.

Towards the End of the Workshop

The workshop was very informative and interesting. There were a lot of queries from the attendees to learn more about the art form. Kavita welcomed those queries and answered them with clarity. The workshop ended with everyone showcasing their beautiful artworks.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. Also, they belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. Rajasthan studio as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

On this note, we take your leave. See you next time!
