Madhubani Bharni Style

Madhubani paintings are classified into four different styles: Bharni, Kachni, Godhana, and Tantric.In the Treta Yuga, King Janaka was the ruler of Mithila. It is believed that on the occasion of the marriage of his daughter Sita to Lord Rama, he ordered to paint the walls of the kingdom through paintings. These paintings were later known as Mithila paintings. Bharni means filling. In the Bharni style, the outlines of the images are drawn in bold and dark black and the images are filled with bright colours like red, yellow, orange, etc.

About The Artist

Priya is inclined towards different art forms has a diploma in painting and is pursuing her masters in travel and tourism from Christ University Bangalore.

The Workshop Began

Priya greeted all the participants and thanked the host for the lovely introduction. She first started making different patterns and the design of Madhubani Sun on the canvas and outlined it with black colour. She continued to colour it with yellow and orange colour, bindi in red and the moustache and hair in black colour. She concluded her artwork by colouring the sunrays in orange and yellow colour.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

Priya made a bright and colourful Madhubani Sun and painted them in yellow, orange, red and black. All the participants appreciated her artwork and showed their co-created Madhubani bharni artwork to Priya She showed her other art creations. The host thanked Priya for teaching this art form.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. Also, they belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. The Circle Community, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
