Lippan Art Workshop By Pragya Yagnik

Mud and Mirror Work is a traditional mural craft of Kutch, Gujarat, India. Lippan or mud-washing using materials locally available in the region like a mixture of clay and camel dung keeps the interiors of the houses cool. Though the work is limited mainly to the interior walls, it can be found on the outer walls as well. These scintillating murals bring life, gaiety, and beauty to the harsh life of the people of Kutch. To give our Circle Members the experience to learn and enlighten themselves about this traditional art form, Rajasthan Studio curated a special workshop and invited Pragya Yagnik.

Pragya Yagnik is a Delhi-based artist. Although she has been practicing art since her childhood she gave it a professional direction in 2018 through her artistic venture pranya_designs. Her soul mostly gets attracted to the traditional art forms and she intends to spread them as much as she can.

 Lippan Art Workshop Began

Pragya started the session by telling the students about herself and her journey till now. She went on to explain the origin of Lippan Art. All the attendees paid attention and noted all the key points.

She explained the design for the day. She told the attendees the different materials required like paint and m-seal. Pragya taught them how to begin sketching the art piece. She made sure she answered all the queries of the attendees.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

Pragya explained all the finer points also in detail. All the attendees were successful in creating beautiful lippan art pieces. The attendees were very excited to showcase their work. The overall experience was very delightful and everyone was elated by the experience.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. Also, they belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. Rajasthan Studio as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
