Lantern Making Workshop With Shivangi Patel

Lantern Making Workshop

Lantern Making Workshop: A lantern is a portable source of lighting, featuring a protective enclosure for the light source. Lanterns contribute to enlightening the festivities. With Diwali around the corner, Rajasthan Studio curated a Lantern Making Workshop and invited Shivangi Patel, who is a self-taught artist. To keep up her passion for art she began her venture, Mumbai Painting Studios in 2018. She has been a constant participant in many art national and international competitions. She was awarded by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam and actor Jeetendra Kapoor.

The Lantern Making Workshop Began

Shivangi began the experience by briefing about the materials. All 15 participants carefully observed her and made notes. Shivangi then demonstrated how to make a sparkly lantern for the festivities using basic materials. She worked on covering the plastic baskets with glitter. Eventually, she began to cut a plastic bottle and covered the top part with glitter and the base with glitter foam sheets. The use of waste materials to create a new art piece amazed all the attendees.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

Once all the pieces had dried, Shivangi began to assemble all the individual pieces. She added sparkly lace and a mirror to accessorize the lantern adding charm to it. Shivangi shared DIY ideas to make accessories to beautify the lantern even further. She briefed the attendees on how to add a light source to the lantern. By the end of the workshop, the attendees were happy to learn a technique to convert materials at home into beautiful art pieces or decorations.

The attendees were from different parts of the country and belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on one platform.

Rooftop as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

Here’s us signing off until next time!
