Knife Painting Workshop By Poonam Wankhede

Vincent Van Gogh is one artist who was known to use the method of knife painting. By applying thick dabs of oil paint on canvas, he was able to achieve the swirling, textural work he became famous for. Today, many contemporary artists continue to use painting knives in the same way to create expressive works that appear to come out from the canvas. To give our Circle Members the experience to learn and enlighten themselves about this traditional art form, Rajasthan Studio curated a special workshop and invited Poonam Wankhede.

Poonam Wankhede aka Natasha is  an engineer, a fashion stylist and an artist. Art was always her calling so she turned her hobby into full- time engagement. After trying out practically all available mediums in art she stumbled upon this new form of art back then in 2017 during an international art exhibition in Mumbai. She started her own venture The Colour Wheel after she had a considerable experience with all the art forms. This venture meant that she could reach out to the beginners and newbies who wanted to learn the art forms.

 Knife Painting Workshop Began

Poonam started the workshop by explaining about the different types of knivesinvolved such as box knives. She spoke about the different types of brushes involved, and the size of canvas require. All the  attendees paid attention and noted all the key points.

She explained that they were going to make a vase of flowers for the workshop. She also spoke about her personal background and achievements which motivated the attendees. She made sure that she was responding to all queries and questions.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

Poonam encouraged the students to be creative and not be bound by rules. She showed the attendees the  technique of correctly using the knife and best possible colour combinations. She even displayed an artwork that she had created before. The attendees were very excited to showcase their work. The overall experience was very delightful and everyone was elated by the experience.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. Also, they belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. Rajasthan Studio as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
