Peacocks in Gond paintings are considered a  symbol of the harmony which the tribal folks have with the nature surrounding them. Peacocks around trees, solo, or in groups, are a popular subject in Gond paintings. One needs to observe the beauty of the birds, flocked together in celebration of life. The Gond Painting has its origin in Madhya Pradesh and derives its name from the tribe. The Gond believe that “viewing a good image brings good luck”. The paintings are an offering in worship of nature and are also a medium of seeking protection against evil. Rooftop curated a Peacocks In Gond Painting with Kanika Singhal.
