Rooftop – Where India Inspires Creativity

Floral Acrylic Workshop by Sasikaladevi R.

Floral Acrylic Workshop

What one creates by themselves holds much more insurance and value than something that is brought from the market. We believe in creating things for ourselves and reusing already existing materials for our art. Acrylic is a paint medium which holds a glow and brightness that can make anything look bright and shiny. While floral patterns hold a sense of nature which can add that earth element to anything. Together the combination of acrylic and floral can create wonders. To give our Circle Members the experience to learn and enlighten themselves about this integrated art form, Rajasthan Studio curated a special and creative Floral Acrylic Workshop and invited Sasikaladevi R.

Artist Sasikaladevi R. is based in Coimbatore Tamil Nadu. She is a PhD scholar at IIT Madras with the Environmental and Water Resources Engineering Division. Sasikaladevi Ji is self taught and has always loved DIY and Up-cycling. She started collecting bottles from lab members and family and decorated them with decoupage and eventually started painting on them. She is now known on her social media as  The Artist Nerd (@butterflysartcapades).

Contemporary Floral Acrylic Workshop Began

The workshop began with a short introduction of Sasikaladevi Ji followed by a demonstration of the finished bottle glass work that all the participants were to obtain at the end of the workshop. She then showed the glass bottle she was going to work on followed by a conversation and instructions on the source of the bottles and the kind of bottles that could be used.

The workshop moved forward with the outlining of the floral pattern on the glass bottle. Ma’am was slow and informative so that everyone could follow her. While she hopped on to start painting she answered all the questions the participants had.

Towards the end of the Workshop

The workshop came to an end with all the attendees giving a finishing touch to their artwork, they also added their own innovation to create and customise their pieces. Sasikaladevi ji was quick and very clean with her own work. The workshop ended with everyone showcasing their work.

The attendees were also from different parts of the country. Also, they belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. Rajasthan studio as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

On this note, here’s us signing off until next time!
