Dot Mandala Workshop With Gouri Nargale

Dot Mandala Workshop With Gouri Nargale

Dot Mandala is a blend of dot painting and mandala. It is a fun and therapeutic form of art that is made with many small colourful dots. It can either be a systematic or abstract design made by creating different patterns in it. To learn more about this art, Rooftop conducted a Dot Mandala Workshop with Gouri Nargale.

About The Artist

Gouri is a professional artist, art teacher and a mother of two lovely kids. She has conducted a number of online and offline workshops for the last four years. Styles including dot mandalas, pen mandalas, Lipan art, Madhubani, Gond are some of the art forms she excels at. She has a creative soul and looks forward to exploring new art forms.

The Dot Mandala Workshop Began

Gouri had the idea to draw the Yin-Yang symbol for the session. She took a circular board and gave it a black base coat with a sponge. She began with drawing basic geometric shapes inside the circle to form a yin-yang shape. She made the design by dividing the circle into four parts, finding the centre and drawing an ‘S’ like shape.

She painted a dotted line with white paint using an earbud. She instructed that the consistency of the paint should neither be too thick or thin, and no water should be added to it while painting. She taught them the dip and dot method that yields equally sized dots. Later, she used tools like toothpicks to draw smaller dots in the inner circles.

Towards The End Of The Dot Mandala Workshop

The artist discussed the different professional tools and the alternative household items for the same. This art is easy to follow and feels like meditation to the soul. Gouri encouraged the attendees to try making different patterns with colourful designs for their next dot mandala artworks. Everyone displayed their art and there was a positive vibe throughout the session as everyone participated with enthusiasm.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. They also belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. The Circle Community, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

On this note, here’s us signing off until next time!
