Crochet Earring Workshop With Sumitra Rajpurohit

Crochet Earring Workshop

Crochet Earring Workshop: Crochet is a French word that means ‘small hook’. It is a process of creating textiles using yarn and a Crochet Hook. It is an age-old art, through which one can stitch its way to make toys, tea coasters, sweaters, mufflers, earrings and a lot more. Rajasthan Studio curated a Crochet Earring Workshop and invited Sumitra Rajpurohit to enlighten the circle members with the basics of crocheting around the earring. Sumitra is a fashion designer by degree and loves to experiment with crochet, knitting and sewing.

The Crochet Earring Workshop Began

Before beginning the workshop, Sumitra interacted with the participants to understand their expertise in crochet. Sumitra started the workshop by teaching the basics of crochet including different types of yarn and hooks that a beginner should use. She also demonstrated the commonly used stitches like chain stitch, single stitch and double stitch. All 14 participants were paying close attention to the process and asked questions like the alternative to the wool yarn and replacement for the hook to create crochet. Sumitra, in detail, answered all the queries and began teaching how to crochet around the earring hoop. “How we start and how we end the crochet is very important. If any sting goes loose, all our effort goes waste”, said Sumitra. She patiently explained two different ways to start crocheting around the earring.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

Sumitra, throughout the process, explained the steps of crochet in layman’s terms which made it easier for the participants to understand the complex mechanism. The unique part of this workshop was the age bracket of the participants. From young teen girls to mid-aged women to a grandmother, all of them signed up for the workshop. By the workshop’s end, participants learned to make various designs using just two tools.
