Contemporary Meenakari Workshop

The word Meenakari is derived from the word “mina” the feminine word for “Minoo” which means heaven in Persian. The art of Meenakari dates back hundreds of years and has evolved with time to form Contemporary Meenakari! This art involves intricate designs and is applied as a decorative feature.

To give our Circle Members the experience to learn and enlighten themselves about this traditional art form, Rajasthan Studio curated a Special Contemporary Meenakari Workshop and invited Sonal mittal.

Sonal Mittal is based in Kota, Rajasthan.Since childhood she has gained a lot of interest in art and design. She is currently she is pursuing M.DES (fashion design) from Amity University Jaipur. She has worked on several folk arts like contemporary meenakari art, Kerala Gandhara mural, pichwai art, kalamkari paintings, thai art, modern art, relief paintings etc. This made her more creative and enthusiastic towards our art and culture and provides a way to do something in this industry.

Contemporary Meenakari Workshop Began

The workshop began with the short introduction of the artist to attendees. The artist instructed to trace a meenakari chowki design on the mdf board. The artist started with the fevicryl 3D Golden outliner to outline the entire tracing . Sonal also pasted the white kundans in art pieces. She also shared some insights about the art form that meenakari.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

Moving further we fill up the green and red glass colors in the art piece to complete the meenakari art work but due to less time we shared final artwork with the curious attendees. Artist gave some tips and tricks for creating your journal The attendees seemed immersed in the workshop and thanked rajasthan studio as well as the artist for introducing them to such a beautiful contemporary art form.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. Also, they belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. Rajasthan studio as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
