Clay Character Molding with plasticine clay is popular among kids. Plasticine clay never hardens so it can be moulded endless times into different shapes. Bright colours, non-sticky and safe to handle are what make plasticine clay undoubtedly a learning material for clay character moulding.
Franz Kolb, a pharmacy owner from Munich, Germany, invented plasticine in 1880. William Harbutt from Bath, England, invented the art of clay modelling in 1897 to enable his sculpting students to correct their work.
To make this art form popular, Rooftop conducted a workshop on Clay Character Moulding with expert artist Abhilasha Bhartiya.
About The Artist
Abhilasha is a research scholar in animation with a Master’s Degree in it. She is a graduate of design and multimedia. She has specialized in 2-D animation, motion graphics, sketching, illustrative art, and clay moulding.
The Clay Character Moulding Workshop Began
The workshop began with Abhilasha interacting with attendees. She explained the materials required for the workshop. Firstly, she began making spheres out of green clay and pressed it to form a leaf. She began explaining the formation of basic shapes. Further, she made an orange flower with green leaves. She used a clay tool to make patterns in the leaves. She added pollen to the flower and also made a pink-purple-colored flower. She made multi-coloured flowers to complete the clay work. Each flower had separate texture patterns with a variety of clay tools. Lastly, she demonstrated a cute little butterfly with multi-colours.
Towards The End Of The Clay Character Moulding Workshop
The attendees co-created with Abhilasha as they grasped the details very well. The brightly coloured clay art looked eye-catching. Abhilasha appreciated the attendees and thanked the host.
The attendees were from different parts of the country. They also belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. Rooftop, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
