Rooftop – Where India Inspires Creativity

Charcoal+Graphite Workshop with Tarun Kumar

Charcoal Graphite workshop

Charcoal is naturally a loose drawing medium.  We only need to recognize its unique qualities. Charcoal produces a rich range of value with strong darks. It can be applied and manipulated quickly allowing the artist to capture visual information with speed. When it comes to portrait drawing, charcoal is an excellent medium. And to know more about this art form, Rooftop organised a Charcoal + Graphite workshop with Tarun Kumar.

About The Artist

Tarun Kumar is a graphite and charcoal artist and is based in Delhi.

The Workshop Began

Tarun greeted all the participants and thanked them for the introduction. He first taught different strokes of charcoal and graphite. He first started sketching the eyebrows, eyes and face on the canvas and continued to shade it from light to dark and continued to darken the eyeball, eyebrows with detailing and lot of artistic touch and made the eyelashes of the portrait with a pencil and smoothly drew it with shading in the background.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

Tarun made a beautiful closeup of the face, eyebrows a headshot. The shades of the charcoal ranged from dark to light. All the participants appreciated and showed their co-created Charcoal art to Tarun.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. They also belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. Rooftop, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

On this note, here’s us signing off until next time!
