Acrylic is the fastest drying and most used colour medium. It is cost-effective as only soap and water is required to paint and clean the brushes. Besides paper, it is used on canvas, leather, fabric, stone, plastic and glass. Acrylic painters can modify the appearance, hardness, flexibility, texture, and other characteristics of the paint surface by using acrylic mediums or simply by adding water. In the 1940s, the first synthetic acrylic paint was used which was a mix of oil and water colours. The Buddha Painting workshop with Vijaya Jaju was a successful event conducted by Rooftop.

About The Artist

Vijaya is a homemaker. Art has been her passion since childhood. She is a Fevicryl certified art teacher and she believes in upcycling and recycling. She conducts workshops both online and offline on various art forms. Additionally, she makes customized art pieces for sale.

The workshop began:-

The Workshop workshop began with Vijaya interacting with the attendees and orienting them about the same. Firstly, she d knew a circle on white paper. After that, she traced the outline of the Buddha sketch using carbon paper inside the circle. She covered the tracing with a black marker. She started painting a splash of crimson, orange, yellow and blue. She did the shading with dark green colour. She made the entire background black along with beautifying the Buddha with a metallic outliner.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

Vijaya provided a detailed explanation of the difference in acrylic colours of Fevicryl and other brands. She showed her other artworks. Everyone was delighted to attend the workshop. The attendees were from different parts of the country. Also, they belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform.

The Rooftop Community, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together. On this note, here’s us signing off until next time!
