Watercolour flows on paper blending among varied colors, which makes it a unique medium of art. This form of painting requires active yet delicate strokes that focus on the movement of wrists. One can draw delightful patterns along with brush lettering to create a greeting card. To explore more about this modern style of art, the Circle Community conducted a workshop with Aananya T.

About The Artist

Aananya is a 24-year-old Developer from Bangalore who recently restarted her art journey with watercolour painting. After going through surgery last July, she utilized her idle time to develop skills that she hadn’t tapped upon for a while. Currently, she conducts workshops to share her ideas and also works on commissioned art.

The Workshop Began

Aananya started off with basic exercises to help the attendees get the hang of consistency required for watercolour paints. She gave a brief about the specific tools to be used for particular drawings. She helped them understand the different values of watercolour, blending, and brush control techniques to achieve perfect, clear strokes.

She moved on to teach the first design and painted crimson leaves with overlaying metallic gold leaves. She guided everyone to pay attention to the pressure of brush strokes and alter the leaves as and when needed. The second greeting card used a muted tone of peach and green paint with shimmering gold. An elegant flower along with a bud was painted by playing with angles to give them a natural look. Light and dark shades were welded together to make the petals stand out. She then approached the modern calligraphy brush lettering technique to give the greeting cards a complete and remarkable look.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

Each of the attendees presented their art and appreciated the tips and tricks shared. Some successfully replicated the designs shown and others displayed the additional creativity they put into their art. Aananya was pleased to see the efforts and encouraged them to keep practicing. It was wonderful to see how everyone exhibited their distinctive paintings at the end of the session.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. They also belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. The Circle Community, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
