Rooftop – Where India Inspires Creativity

Ancient Tribal Art Workshop By Ananya Mishra

Ancient Tribal Art

Tribal art also referred to as ethnographic art denotes the material culture and visual arts of indigenous peoples. It is often ceremonial or religious in nature. Typically originating in rural areas, tribal art refers to the subject and craftsmanship of artefacts from tribal cultures. To give our Circle Members the experience to learn and enlighten themselves about this traditional art form, Rooftop curated a special workshop and invited Ananya Mishra.

Ananya Mishra is from Varanasi. She has had a deep inclination and passion towards art and creativity since her childhood. Her inclination started to deepen when she started making handmade gifts for her friends, relatives, and neighbours in form of decorative baskets, envelopes, bottles etc. She also opted for Fine Arts in her college days from which she gradually started to learn more and to expand her creativity and interest towards art and craft. That’s when she started with SPLASHING ART. At present Splashing Art is a variation of all forms of Art.

Ancient Tribal Art Workshop Began

The workshop began with a nice welcome to Ananya .She began by telling the attendees that she was gonna teach them this art form by using dry pastels and using oil pastels. She told about how oil pastels are different from dry pastels and how they are used .She then began sketching rough sketches and side by side telling about how she was making it .After finishing with the sketch she began the main that was the colouring part of the artform. Using different shades of oil pastels and dry pastels to make the art look more pretty. She showed the blending of dry pastels of what a different effect it could give a painting.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

Towards the end everyone showcased their artwork to Ananya. Ananya gave them ideas of what colour combinations they could use and how they could use more of blending in their artwork .

The attendees were from different parts of the country. Also, they belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. Rooftop community as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

On this note, here’s us signing off until next time!
