Mixed Media Art is a diverse medium that helps an artist express and redefines the way to create art. There are a number of different materials that can be used and there is no limit or restriction of creativity. To learn more about the techniques of this art, The Circle Community conducted a workshop with Shivani.
About The Artist
Shivani is a professional interior designer but she has always been passionate about art. She is a self-taught artist, who is constantly learning more and improving herself. To be able to create art from waste material is what fascinates her to learn more about art.
The Workshop Began
For this session, Shivani decided to redefine a wood box and give it a vintage look with mixed media. She painted the box black and dried it with a hot gun. The first item she used to decorate it was an intricate designed white lace, which she stuck on the border of the box. She then used mix media pink-colored paste to inscribe words on it with a stencil.
She used some old keys that had a vintage vibe along with some chains and a small pocket watch to decorate it. She also showed a previously created art piece that was colored entirely in black. She went ahead and highlighted the items on it with metallic wax colors like pink, blue, and purple.
Towards The End Of The Workshop
Since it was Shivani’s first workshop, she was quite nervous. But the attendees supported her and appreciated her for teaching them such creative methods. Everyone was fascinated to learn about mix media art and looked forward to recreating it.
The attendees were from different parts of the country. They also belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. The Circle Community, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
