Miniature Painting With Water Colors With Tanu Gupta

Miniature Painting With Water Colors With Tanu Gupta

Miniature Painting With Water Colors: Watercolour is an ancient form of painting. In this, colors are mixed with water on the brush to communicate a message through the canvas. It is one of the primitive types of painting. These are fun, cost-effective, and give a lot of possibilities for creative self-expression. Tanu Gupta is an animator with 14+ years of experience. Her heart has a special place for water painting.

The beginning of the workshop

Keeping in mind the level of attendees who attend the workshop, Tanu decided to make a full moon night painting. This was easy to make. On a canvas of 3×4 inches, the first step was to draw a hilly horizon and a full moon over it with a pencil. Once that was done we stroked the canvas with the wet brush and started painting over it. First, we coloured the sky. Then, we colored the lake which was below the horizon and then the moon. Till the time the canvas was dry, Tanu interacted with the participants and giving them tips on the quality of paper that should be used for watercolour.

Towards the end of the workshop

After our canvas was dry, the next step to it was to do the shading and add the minute details. These were the stars, pine trees, cheese-like texture on the moon surface and soft waves on the waterbody. Once all the details were worked upon, the canvas was ready to use as a bookmark or postcard!

The workshop ended with our participants learning a new skill of miniature watercolour painting and smiling faces of participants!
