Miniature Gouache Landscape Workshop with Shobha Krishnan

miniature gouache landscape

The term Gouache was used in France in the 18th century to describe a type of painting that was made from pigments bound in water-soluble gum like watercolour. Gouache forms a thick layer of paint on the paper surface. Gouache was used by the Egyptians and Rocco artist Francois Boucher. Contemporary painters use gouache in combination with watercolour and other mediums.

To explore the art form in detail, Rooftop brought together a Miniature Gouache Landscape Workshop with Shobha Krishnan.

About The Artist

Shobha is an aspiring CA, who is an avid art lover and is an artist by passion. She is most skilled in watercolour, acrylics, and gouache art forms. She is from Chennai and showcases her artwork on her Instagram handle @shobha_krish_iyer. Besides, she also takes customized orders.

The Workshop began

Shobha recreated four of her miniature Gouache paintings. She started painting shades of yellow, pink, and purple. For the second landscape, she drew a bird and painted shades of blue to create a sunset scenery of the lake and the mountains, and gave a beautiful finishing touch to the entire piece. Krishnan also shared her creations and guided and appreciated all the participants.

Towards the end of the workshop

All the participants showed their artwork to Shobha and were delighted to be a part of the workshop and learn about the beautiful art form. Shobha, too, was happy to see the participants’ colourful artwork.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. They also belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. Rooftop, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

On this note, here’s us signing off until next time!
