Madhubani Jharokha Workshop With Mrunmayee

Jharokha is a unique form of architecture hailing from Rajasthan, in which a balcony is enclosed into an overhanging connected to the outer walls of the buildings. They were designed in a way that they always faced the streets, markets, and sometimes courts. They were a prominent part of ancient Rajasthani architecture. Madhubani painting on the other hand comes from the Madhubani district of Bihar. Jharokha nowadays is a prominent home decor and is fused with different patterns to create a fusion of art out of it. Rooftop curated an amazing session of Madhubani Jharokha workshop with Mrunmayee for the circle members.

About The Artist

Mrunmayee is from Pune and did her Master’s in Chemical Engineering. She pursued a job for some time but during these times she felt a void that couldn’t be filled. Finally, taking a big step in her life, she quit her job and took her passion for art more seriously. She created a page titled ‘Chitramayee’ where she posts pictures of her artworks.

And The Workshop Began

The workshop began with a brief introduction of the artist and the art form. Mrunmayee then greeted the audience and expressed her heartfelt gratitude towards them. Moving further, she explained the basic requisites for the project and the different types of paints and pens. One of the unique points of this workshop was that no brushes were used throughout the session. Mrunmayee explained each and every part of the procedure in a very detailed manner that made the attendees understand the art form clearly. Mrunmayee then displayed some of her previous artworks to provide a clear understanding of the art form. The whole session was engaging and fascinating at the same time.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

As we progressed towards the completion of the workshop, attendees were very happy and gleeful after gaining such a valuable experience. The session proved to be fruitful for both the attendees and Mrunmayee and all the participants thanked Mrunmayee and Rooftop for bringing up such an interesting and excellent session.

The participants were from different parts of the country and belonged to various age groups, but this didn’t pose a barrier as their love and affection for art brought them together onto a single platform. Rooftop, as always, was able to bring art lovers from different parts of the country under a single umbrella and create memories that could be cherished for a lifetime.

On that note, here’s us signing off until next time!
