Gouache, body colour, or opaque watercolour, is one type of water-media, paint consisting of natural pigment, water, a binding agent, and sometimes additional inert material. Gouache is designed to be opaque. To give our Circle Members the experience to learn and enlighten themselves about this art form, Rajasthan Studio curated a special Gouache Landscape Workshop and invited Pragya Raj.
Pragya is a self-taught artist, who loves to explore different forms of art. So far she has experimented with watercolours, acrylic, charcoal, gouache and digital art. Pragya is a graphic designer by profession and artist by heart. For her nature is her biggest inspiration and she loves painting beautiful landscapes. Painting is a part of her daily life, it gives her peace and calms her soul.
Gouache Landscape Workshop Began
The workshop started with Pragya listing the colours which were required for the landscape painting, she divided the paper in a one-third ratio and started the rough sketching for an idea of how to go about the painting.
Pragya explained how to blend the gouache colours and gave an insight about the gouache colours and how to make them opaque or brighter by just adding the right ratio of water. She also explained how to blend two colours by mixing the colours first on the pallet with a bit of white colour while she continued the painting.
Towards the end of the Workshop
The Gouache Landscape Workshop was fun and interactive. Pragya helped attendees understand the process of gouache painting very smoothly and the attendees easily followed Pragya throughout the workshop. Pragya also gave an explanation on how to add details in the painting and how to use the brush properly. The workshop ended with everyone showcasing their beautiful artworks.
The attendees were from different parts of the country. Also, they belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. Rajasthan studio as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
On this note, we take your leave. See you next time!
