Gond Kala Workshop with Anika Bhargava

Gond Kala Workshop with Anika Bhargava

Gond art is a form of painting from folk and tribal art that is practised by one of the largest tribes in India the Gond who are predominantly from Madhya Pradesh but also can be found in pockets of Maharashtra, Chhatisgarh. The work of Gond artists is rooted in their folk tales and culture, and thus story-telling is a strong element of every painting.

About The Artist

Anika is a 19-year-old art enthusiast. She never went into art and her love for art started when she was a kid and took part in many art competitions.

The Workshop Began

Anika greeted all the participants and thanked the host for the introduction. She first started sketching the branch of the tree on the canvas, then drew a small bird and leaves around the branches. Shen then continued to paint yellow on the canvas and paint the branch of the tree in brown colour, the leaves in green colour. She coloured the bird in red and blue colour and concluded the workshop by outlining the branches of the trees and birds.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

Anika created a colourful Gond Kala Art of a bird seated on the branch of a tree. All the participants appreciated her artwork and showed their co-created artworks to Anika. The host thanked Anika for teaching this lovely art form.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. Also, they belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. The Circle Community, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

On this note, here’s us signing off until next time!
