Rooftop – Where India Inspires Creativity

Abstract Art with Acrylic Workshop With Divyanshi Lahoti

Asbstract art with acrylic

Abstraction among paintings remains popular because of its independence of creating unique art. Abstract art with acrylics is the best way to convey one’s thoughts through painting. The fun part is that, like any creative work, there are no hard and fast rules, except the ones you make yourself. To learn more about the realism of this art, The Rooftop studio conducted a workshop with Divyanshi Lahoti.

About The Artist

Divyanshi is free-spirited, bold, vibrant yet calm. And this personality of hers reflects in her paintings. She is a full-time professional artist and owns an art studio in her hometown. She has been into art and craft for a long time. Her mother being an artist motivated her to draw when she was just a kid. She has created and observed art for more than 15 years and enjoys doing it every single day.

The Workshop Began

Divyanshi talked about how they will paint abstract art with a hint of impressionism for the session. “Impressionism is a style introduced by Vincent van Gogh that expresses feelings and emotions through brush strokes”, she said. She decided to teach the attendees to create original artwork with the help of a reference photo. The reference photo was a sea wave with a mesmerizing crescent moon over it.

Before drawing, she divided the elements into simple geometric shapes on which she would paint later. She believes that acrylics have beauty when painting lighter colours on a darker base. She painted the sky with purple and pink shades. The crescent was coloured in crimson and yellow. She used persian blue for the sea waves and with this, she completed giving a base before beginning on the textures. With a round brush, she painted over with bold strokes to give definition to the art. Finally, she gave a highlight to the waves with orange, yellow, and white colours.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

Divyanshi loves the free-flowing concept of an abstract. Everyone co-created along with her and was amazed by the simple yet intricate painting they drew.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. They also belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. The Rooftop Art Studio, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
