Decoupage With Stone Look Workshop: Decoupage is a very old and popular Art form originated in Europe. It has become the most popular art among crafters now a days. To give an insight of this unique artform, Rooftop curated a Decoupage With Stone Look Workshop with Jhankar Shivhare. She is a self taught artist and she believes in ‘developing and nurturing the artist within’. As a profession, she took up arts 7 years ago. Since then she has conducted many successful workshops for kids, NGOs and underprivileged women.
The Decoupage Workshop Began
Jhankar began the workshop by describing the artform decoupage to all the 20 attendees. Next, she painted the cardboard sheet. After it dried, she drew abstract circles in the shape of stones and sprinkled white and black paint on them for texture. Filling the gaps with black paint and outlining them with white acrylic paint, she made the stones look very lively. Then, she stuck a printed photograph on the sheet and painted the bottom portion to give it a more artsy feel.
The attendees were curious and raised a few questions regarding decoupage. Jhankar kept the workshop interactive and answered all their questions promptly. She then took a stencil with a small flower cutout and placed it over the sheet to create an imprint of flowers. The addition of flowers and leaves onto the decoupage artwork gave an additional beauty to it.
Towards The End Of The Workshop
At the end of the workshop, Jhankar demonstrated a decoupage technique with a brick effect. Some attendees worked along with her and created beautiful decoupage artwork. Others diligently took notes and Jhankar educated them a lot about the artform.
The attendees were from different parts of the country and belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform.
Rooftop as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
Here’s us signing off until next time!
