Professional Artist

Bijaya Parida is a master of the Pattachitra painting style and was born and raised in Puri. Since childhood, he has witnessed the evocative memories of glorious Pattachitra paintings that adorned the inner shrine of the temple Jagannath. The beauty of life is in its intricacy, and this is what inspired him to paint people in their real forms, alive with emotions that reflect upon us through their outward appearance. Today, Parida is one of the eminent masters of the Pattachitra art form from Orissa.

A well-known Odisha Pattachitra artist is Rabindra Behera. At the young age of 11, supported by his family and armed with a few basic art supplies, he started learning Pattachitra etching in Raghurajpur village, in the district of Puri, Odisha, under the instruction of Jagannath Mahapatra, a renowned Pattachitra artist. Since 1983, Rabindra Behera has engraved Pattachitras and palm leaves. In 2003, he won a State Award, and in 2007, he was given a National Merit Award.
