Brush lettering is a style of writing which is similar to calligraphy. With each letter, heavy pressure is applied on the downward stroke and light pressure is applied with every upward stroke. Due to the use of pressure and the appearance of the letters, brush lettering is also known as modern calligraphy.

To make this art form popular among art lovers, Rooftop conducted an interactive and fun workshop on Brush Pen Calligraphy with expert artist Namrata Baheti.

About The Artist

Namrata is a passionate lettering and calligraphy artist as well as a designer. She is based out of Jaipur and loves creating artworks on a regular basis.

The Workshop Began

The workshop began with an introduction to Namrata and her journey as an artist. Namrata greeted all the participants and started teaching the basics of brush pen, including creating upward and downward strokes. She instructed on keeping a steady hand for the purpose and to draw from top to bottom without applying any pressure to the pen. 

Namrata further explained the different types of strokes beautifully with lines and taught everybody the art of calligraphy. She also answered the queries of participants from time to time and motivated them to create artwork with her.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

Namrata wrote some English letters using different strokes for the calligraphy design. The participants were delighted to see her written work and shared their co-created work with her. Namrata appreciated all the artwork and gave valuable tips to the participants. The host thanked Namrata for sharing about this creative and artistic written art form.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. They also belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. The Rooftop Community, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
