Wood Cut Printmaking Basics Workshop By Anjali Goel

Woodcut printing is one of the oldest forms of printmaking. Woodcut is a relief process, where woodcut tools are used to carve a design on the surface of the wooden block. The areas of the design part carry the ink and are later printed on the required surface. This unique art is known for its versatility and you wouldn’t want to miss the opportunity to try your hands on this art form. To give our Members the experience to learn and enlighten themselves about this art form, Rooftop curated a special Wood Cut Printmaking Basics Workshop and invited Anjali Goel.

Anjali Goel has been teaching art for 9 years and she is the founder of art studio  Printmaking. Anjali teaches a variety of media to students of all ages and loves working with them to bring out their unique artistic style. She is passionate about art and art education. She has thought in design schools like NID. Anjali has a MFA in printmaking and  BFA in painting. She is a recipient of the Government of India HRD. Recently she got the best  emerging artist award by Amity art foundation. She exhibited her artwork in India and  abroad. She was part of the green door portfolio exchange program Glassgow. In 2017 she got the  chance to showcase her work in the India Art Fair.

Wood Cut Printmaking Workshop Began

The workshop began with a short introduction of Anjali and her journey. Further Anjali overtook the workshop and told the attendees about the history of wood cutting. Later she also mentioned the materials everyone needed to complete the artwork with her.

Anjali started while explaining and giving instructions to the attendees. Following that she also explained how to go about with each step, she also cleared all the doubt of the attendees.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

Towards the end of the woodcut printing workshop Anjali shared a lot of hacks and tips for this art form. She showed different techniques. She was very excited and happy to see the attendees following the instructions carefully. At the end of the workshop everyone learned something different and unique art.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. Also, they belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
