The depiction of winter landscapes in western art began in the 15th century. Wintery and snowy landscapes are not seen in early European paintings since most of the subjects were religious. The winter landscape that features snow as a theme is landscapes, even if some of these works include religious or even fantasy landscapes such as the ones in The Chronicles of Narnia. Rooftop conducted an interactive Winter Landscape Workshop with expert artist Gayatri Prahlad.
About the Artist
Gayatri is a chartered accountant and artist by profession. She has been interested in visual arts ever since she was a child. Art has always been a motivating factor for her.
The Winter Landscape Workshop Began
The workshop began with a brief introduction of Gayatri and her journey as an artist. Gayatri introduced herself to the attendees and talked about the Winter Landscape art. She thanked the hosts for giving her the opportunity to teach this art form. She first started by prepping the canvas for the background with a shade of light blue. Gayatri then made the pine trees using a darker shade of blue. To paint snow, Gayatri used a pristine white color. She added finishing details with various shades of blue and white and created a beautiful winter landscape.
Towards The End Of The Workshop
The completed winter landscape painting looked beautiful. Towards the end of the workshop, Gayatri also showed some of her previous artworks. Her creativity absolutely mesmerized the attendees. They appreciated her work and shared their co-created paintings with her as well. The participants were from different parts of the country. They also belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. The host thanked Gayatri for sharing her knowledge and skills about landscape art.
