Quilling was practised during the Renaissance by nuns and monks who would roll gold-gilded paper trimmed from books to decorate religious objects in place of using costly gold filigree. In later years, quilling continued to be practised throughout Europe as it caught on as a leisurely activity for affluent women who would use it to adorn household decor. Quilling found its way to America with the pilgrims and in recent years has seen a surge in popularity. Quilling Card makes quilled greeting cards and quilted gifts. Quilling is the art of rolling and shaping paper to create a cohesive three-dimensional design. Quilling cards are more than simple greeting cards, they’re beautiful works of art.
About The Artist
Ramapriya is an independent artist who is passionate about quilling. She showcases her art on Instagram and has a youtube account promoting her art.
The Workshop Began
Rampriya greeted all the participants and thanked the host for the lovely introduction. She started teaching the making of the flowers by quilling. Pink and green colour quills were used for the art form.
She continued with the teaching of the petals and went ahead to teach the making of the stem by sticking it carefully onto the paper as it is delicate and light in weight. She concluded the design by showcasing her quilling work of Minions, Mickey and Minnie.
Towards The End Of The Workshop
Ramapriya created a colourful quilling card using pink and green petals, and green quills for the leaves and stems as well. All the participants appreciated her quilling greeting card. All the attendees showed their co-created colourful quilling cards and had all smiles on their faces. The host thanked Ramapriya for teaching this wonderful Quilling with greeting cards.
The attendees were from different parts of the country. They also belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. The Circle Community, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
