Urban Sketching Workshop By Avidip Kundu

sketching

Urban Sketching is a practice of drawing on location in cities, towns, and villages they live in or travel to. it is the practice of drawing what is around you, for instance, in your sketchbook. It does not necessarily imply that you draw cities, but rather it consists of capturing your vision of your immediate world, and the places you travel to. To give our Circle Members the experience to learn and enlighten themselves about this modern art form, Rajasthan Studio curated a special Urban Sketching Workshop and invited Avidip Kundu

Avdeep Kundu loves to portray his love for the city which is a city of joy, that is Kolkata. He captures the Kaleidoscope of beauty, art, culture, and heritage of the city. His work gives a glimpse of the inner beauty of the city along with the history and remnants of the gone era. Kundu is a full-time self-taught artist and a part-time lawyer as described by himself. He has his own studio in the northern city and has passion for live urban sketching. His portrayal of beautiful and spectacular urban sketching techniques reflects in his creations and artworks.

Urban Sketching Workshop Began

The workshop began with a short introduction of Avidip. Urban Sketching Workshop started with the artist mentioning that one should start sketching from the top. He later started sketching an architectural building that was built during the British era.

Avidip showed the attendees how to sketch with dark and light shade. He then used lines for the focal point of the sketch. He shared that one should have the idea of creating the atmosphere while doing urban sketching. Furthermore attendees displayed the artwork to the artist and Avidip was quite impressed with the attendees work.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

The attendees worked on lighter and darker strokes to complete the sketch. Avidip checked the progress of the attendees from time to time. Reaching towards the bottom part of the sketch the artist made some extensions towards both sides of the building and the participants followed. The whole sketch was divided into three sections and it was completed with the beautiful strokes of the pen. The historical art piece was ready with a beautiful, dynamic, and alive perspective. At the end we saw some lovely creations by our artist.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. Also, they belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. Rajasthan studio as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

On this note, here’s us signing off until next time!
