Understanding the Principles of Time Management with Phad Painting

Presented by Mount Abu Public School, Delhi as a part of Phad Se Padh initiative

Teacher’s Experience

Being a part of the innovative and unique Phad Se Padh project was an unforgettable experience for both the school’s teachers and the young students of our school. The project offered a venue for fusing education with the graceful Rajasthani-Phad folk art, which displays exquisite realism and the true spirit of India.

This folk art, whose charm is undeniably found in the stories depicted through vibrant visual representation, was made more approachable for young students.

The students at the school were astounded to connect the idea in their book, “The Principle of Time Management,” with the vibrant form of this distinctive Indian folk art, which was drenched in the decorative, colourful, and expressive power of Phad.

Student’s Experience

While making the Phad painting, the research revealed the attire and forts of Rajasthan with the team so that we can inculcate their unique design and style in our painting. The first step of putting the Phad painting together was researching the Rajasthani culture and preparing a story which could showcase the essence of Phad art as well as what we learnt from it. This opportunity to learn Phad painting made the team more curious about the different folk arts and painting styles of India. The culture and heritage of Rajasthan are very vast and this religious scroll painting gave our team a chance to learn about it.

For us this process of learning Phad painting was enlightening and if given a chance I would love to do this again and learn more about different Indian folk arts.
