Thanjavur painting, a classical form of artform also known as Tanjore painting – is a celebration of the region’s rich artistic tradition, named after the town of Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu, India. The paintings are known to have extravagant depictions of deities and vibrant colours, and gaudy embellishments, especially with gold foil. The art form has undergone many changes over the years, it continues to be popular with lovers of art, and inspires many artists even today.
About The Artist
Geetanjali is an Art expert & craft teacher, she conducts workshops and promotes her framed artworks, Customised products on Instagram. She is learning new arts and has received awards for her achievements.
The Workshop Began
Geetanjali thanked the host for the introduction and talked about Tanjore’s art form. She took white acrylic paint on the peacock, leaves and the branch on the fabric. She applied light green colour on the body of the peacock along with yellow, light and dark green colours. She continued colouring the branch of the tree a brown colour and enhanced the beauty of the peacock by designing its feathers. Geetanjali decorated the peacock with pearl metallic gold, she explained different colours are used in Tanjore Painting.
Towards The End Of The Workshop
Geetanjali beautifully created the Tanjore Painting of a bird sitting on the branch of a tree. All the attendees created colourful birds as it was aesthetically pleasing. Geetanjali expressed gratitude and thanked me for giving her the platform to share Tanjore Art. The host thanked Geetanjali and appreciated her work and style of teaching.
The attendees were from different parts of the country. They also belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. The Rooftop Community, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
