Welcome! You shall be guided through the Intermediate Course on the Warli art form in this module.

2. Step 1- Imagine and measure your theme on the canvas

The artist explains the importance of composing the artwork and placing the objects according to space and proportions.

3. Step 2 – Draw the primary figures

In this module, the artist begins by drawing the central figures of the painting.

4. Step 3 – Draw the tree

Here, the artist draws the trees along with their intricate details.

5. Step 4 – Add details – Part 1

The artist continues drawing, adding more figures to the painting.

6. Step 5 – Add details – Part 2

The artist continues further to add more figures to the painting.

7. Step 6 – Add details – Part 3

In this module, the artist starts adding more details to the artwork.

8. Step 7 – Add details – Part 4

Here, the artist adds more figures and objects in the background of this artwork.

The artist fills in the gaps in the artwork, along with more details.

About Artist

The Warli maestro course by Rooftop is led by 3 master artists of the Mhase family.

Sadashiv Mhase

The eldest son of Padma Shri Jivya Soma Mhase, Sadashiv Ji uses rhythmic, basic shapes to depict the complexity of the world around him. He has performed in Delhi, Chandigarh, Odisha, Bhopal, Nagaland and Goa since 1978.

Vijay Mhase

The son of Sadashiv Mhase, Vijay Mhase’s artistic vision goes beyond traditional boundaries to embrace an international consciousness and often reflects global issues. His recent creations in Warli art brilliantly captured the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in India and across the world.

Pravin Mhase

Pravin Mhase learned Warli art from his grandfather, Padma Shri Jivya Soma Mhase. He extends his dedication through teaching this art form and for this purpose, has traversed both domestic landscapes and foreign shores, including Paris to conduct a masterclass for artists.
