Resin art is a blend of unique patterns and textures. It focuses on chemical elements along with the combination of colour pigments. It is a fun art medium to explore and there are many abstract or unique styles that can be created. To learn more about this modern art, Rooftop conducted a workshop with Reshma Makwana.
About The Artist
Reshma is a mixed media artist and is currently working on raisin art and canvas painting. She has always been fascinated by the natural elements that engulf the Earth. The unpredictable nature of resin as a medium interlaced with colour pigments inspires her art. She has indulged in many wall-clock designs through resin art and she would love for others to explore it too.
The Workshop Began
The first instructions given by Reshma were of utmost importance concerning safety. Resin art involves the use of chemicals therefore, masks, gloves and plastic containers are a safe options. There are also many materials mentioned by her that are required to create, some of which are PVC wood, resin and hardener kit, colour pigments, and a torch gun that helps remove the unnecessary bubbles in between.
This form of art has steps to calculate the equation of materials to be combined. For making the wall clock, Reshma used the consistency of 3:1 for mixing resin and hardener. Along with this, she also measured the weight as it helps to avoid wastage of using more quantity than required. Reshma decided to create an abstract flow pattern. Later, she mixed the colours aqua blue, Turkish blue and pink. She poured the colours and swirled them using a stencil. To give it a finishing touch, she added golden-cloured stripes.
Towards The End Of The Workshop
In the end, Reshma instructed that resin art requires at least 48 hours to dry off completely and only then can the numbers be stuck on it. To decorate it, she suggested adding crystals while designing. It was an amazing experience for all the attendees to observe the process of this art.
The attendees were from different parts of the country. They also belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. The Rooftop, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
